Sailing Away!

Wyatt, with one days notice, was given two weeks off school. We finally redeemed those points on the credit card that had been adding up for eight years. Cha-ching!
I thought it would be a nice two weeks of having Wyatt's help and company around the house. Then I got an email from Expedia. It said: Your Itinerary for your Royal Caribbean Cruise, booked by Wyatt. We're off to the Bahamas. In 4 days. With no kids!

Get this. It'll be the first trip we've taken alone since our honeymoon, 8 years ago. We love to travel, in fact it's probably our favorite thing to do together. But we're really bad at planning and budgeting in advance for trips. It almost has to happen spur of the moment, or it just won't happen. We're working on that;) Sooo back to the islands we go. I can't wait to smell that sweet Caribbean air! I do miss it.

Any tips for packing perfectly for a cruise? I've been on one before, but nothing is worse than forgetting something and being stuck in the middle of the ocean. Okay, some things are worse. But, ya know. What were you glad you didn't leave home?

*photo, unkown, sorry.

  2. Ok I have been stalking your blog for awhile but had to post since i just got back from a Mexican Riviera cruise. Some things I found while researching are: 2 binder clips for the bottom of the shower curtain to keep water from going all over the floor, an empty water bottle to bring water back to your room from the Lido deck. Don't book excursions through the cruise. When you get off the ship at port you can barter with the locals to get the same thing for half the price. Another thing we learned at dinner is to order as much as you want a try a little of everything; the food is so good. Have lots of fun it will be so good to have a little break!

  5. Ahh!! So excited for you guys. And I'm so excited to hang out with your kiddos all week (although it would be really cool if you guys were there, too.). As for packing, I have no tips. I'm the worst packer in the world. I always forget at least something. Good luck!

  6. if you are in an inside cabin, a nightlight. They get so dark and then you don't have to switch on a light to find the bathroom.
All you really need is a swimsuit,t shirts and short. Have a blast!

  8. A sweatshirt or jacket, it's way colder out at sea than you think even in the summer. We cruised on Royal Caribbean and you'll have a set dinner time in the formal dining room besides the eat whenever you want place. There is no dress code, you can go in with shorts and a t shirt if you want even on Tux night. But we didn't know that and Mike didn't have a tie or even pants and ended up getting some at our first stop in Cabo. We totally missed steak and lobster night because we thought we couldn't go in with our outfits. So it's up to you if you want to pack fancy stuff.
