The boys are 3 months and two days. I still feel like I barely know them. Having them in the hospital that long made it nearly impossible to truly bond with them. With their adjusted age (doctors go by their due date), they're just over a month. They still feel, look, and act like newborns. So to think that they are already 3 months is really weird. Here's what we know about them so far...
Tuck: Still in the hospital. He originally was admitted for a heart condition, which with medication, has now gotten under control. His severe reflux is what's keeping him there now. He's slowly working on eating all his food from a bottle, as they wean him off his feeding tube. And it's taking f o r e v e r. He's working as hard as he can, and so are all the wonderful nurses who take care of him, but it's still too long for me. We, of course, are still up there each day visiting with him & trying to get to know him as best we can. I know this for sure, the kid can poop. I mean, a lot and all day. He grunts too. He seems pretty manly so far. He loves loves loves to be held, but might even love his binky more. He sucks on that thing like it's his job. He has perfect fingers. He should be a baby hand model. He's shorter and much chubbier than Finn, weighing over 9 pounds. He prefers to be held up on my chest and loves to rock. He can go from 0-60 in .2 seconds, purple face and all. It's a good thing he soothes easily.
Finn: home now for 4 weeks and getting better and better. The first week was rough, we were all adjusting to each other, but we're getting it, and today he smiled his first real smile at Wyatt. It was adorable. He's eating every 3 hours, and as of this week started sleeping a solid 6 hours at night. When he's awake he, like Tuck, loves being held. If he is crying, it's usually because he's not being held. He is a total cuddler, and we love it. He is now smaller than Tuck, longer and narrower, at 8 pounds. He never poops. In fact, the poor kid can't poop without our help. He's got reflux too like Tuck, although not nearly as bad, so he also prefers to be held against my chest. He squeals out before he cries, and makes the sweetest purring noises when he's alseep. He loves that bink too. He loves to be swaddled and bundled up warm. He does not love his carseat, or the swing too much, but likes the vibrating seat. His toes are so chubby and close together they look like they might pop right off. He sleeps with his mouth open, just like Wyatt and is happiest right after he eats and we're playing on the changing table. He likes tummy time a lot, and does not like being flat on his back at all. He loves bath time.
Happy 3 months little loves.
